In Ukraine, the period for re-examination by the military medical commission (VVK) for individuals with the status of "limited fitness" is coming to an end. By February 4, 2025, all conscripts who previously held this status must update their medical records.

Failure to do so may result in punitive sanctions. This is reported by RBK-Ukraine.

The procedure for reassessing fitness began following legislative changes adopted in the spring of 2024. Previously, Ukraine had statuses of "limited fitness for military service" and "unfit in peacetime, limited fitness in wartime"; however, these have been abolished. Therefore, individuals with such statuses are required to undergo a repeat medical examination organized by the territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCK and SP).

To undergo the VVK, conscripts must obtain a referral from TCK and SP either by call or through self-application.

Despite the established deadline of February 4, it is possible that it may be extended. However, no official decisions regarding this have been made yet.

As a reminder, Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, indicated that "limited fitness" individuals might be granted an additional three months to undergo VVK.

Currently, it has been observed that:

  • there is a huge number of people awaiting medical examinations (over 1 million individuals);
  • there is a need for local TCKs to issue referrals to initiate the VVK process, without which it is impossible to undergo medical examinations with doctors, and this also requires waiting in line.

To address this issue, the President's Office, in collaboration with the government, has prepared two resolutions that need to be adopted by the government and the parliament.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported on whether a "limited fitness" man can complete the VVK in one day. The Ministry of Defense notes that if the VVK is not completed, the electronic military accounting document in the "Reserve+" system will remain unchanged, but it is not advisable to take that risk.
