A dangerous incident occurred in the village of Veselinovo in the Mykolaiv region. A woman attempted to light the stove using a gas aerosol canister, which ignited right in her hands.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region.

No fire broke out, but the woman (born in 1982) and a boy (born in 2011) sustained severe burns affecting their face, hands, and abdomen. Both were taken to the hospital with second-degree burns.

Why should you avoid igniting stoves with aerosols and flammable liquids?

  • Explosion hazard – vapors from gasoline, alcohol, or aerosols can ignite instantly.
  • Uncontrolled flames – fire can spread to clothing, furniture, or even the stove itself.
  • Toxic fumes – burning chemicals release harmful gases.
  • Damage to the stove – sudden overheating can cause cracks to form.
  • Burn risk – flames can unexpectedly "burst," injuring nearby individuals.

How to safely light a stove?

Use dry twigs, paper, special briquettes, or paraffin starters. This method is both easier and safer.
