In Poland, for Valentine's Day, an original way to cope with failed relationships has been devised. The Łódź Zoo's Orientarium offers the chance to name a cockroach after an ex-partner – and then feed it to the animals.

All of this comes at a small fee, as noted on the zoo's website.

This "treat" can be given to meerkats, lizards, or birds. According to the organizers, it’s a fantastic way to release emotions after a breakup while also supporting charity. All proceeds from the initiative will go towards the protection of endangered species.

The zoo offers three participation options:

  1. "Basic" package (50 zlotys / ~450 hryvnias) – your "named" cockroach will be sent to lunch, and you will receive an electronic certificate.
  2. "Premium" (150 zlotys / ~1350 hryvnias) – certificate + a photo capturing the moment the cockroach becomes dinner.
  3. "VIP" (300 zlotys / ~2700 hryvnias) – everything mentioned above, plus the opportunity to personally feed the meerkats the insect named after your ex.

The zoo assures that everything is entirely ethical: cockroaches are part of the natural diet of the animals, and the funds are used for good causes.

The campaign will run until February 28, 2025, so all heartbroken individuals have time to take revenge… while benefiting nature!
