In Ukraine, preparations are underway for the release of a comic book series about Stepan Bandera – one of the most famous and simultaneously controversial figures in Ukrainian history. Stepan Bandera, the leader of the Ukrainian Nationalist Organization, became a symbol of the struggle for Ukraine's independence, yet his legacy continues to spark intense debates.

SubscribeThis was revealed by historian and former head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Volodymyr Vyatrovych, in an interview with "Trukha Ukraine," where he also announced an upcoming children's biographical story about Bandera.
The aim of these projects is to introduce the younger generation to the country's history and explain why Bandera became a hero to many Ukrainians during his lifetime.
However, the idea of promoting Bandera has not received unanimous approval. For some Ukrainians, especially those who grew up during the Soviet era, Bandera remains a contentious figure. While some believe it is essential to familiarize people with national heroes from childhood, others reject his image, recalling the controversial aspects of his biography.
Particular concern arises from the possibility that the promotion of Bandera could worsen Ukraine's relations with Poland, where he is still associated with the Volhynia massacre – a tragedy from World War II.
