Ministers of Agriculture from Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia have appealed to the European Commission to cancel the increased quotas on agricultural products from Ukraine and to require Ukrainian companies to adhere to the standards accepted in the EU market. This was reported by the head of Hungary's Ministry of Agriculture, István Nagy, on Facebook, as informed by UNN.
Details
According to him, the EU regulation governing imports from Ukraine will expire in June of this year, so the European Commission "must find a long-term solution to the market issues caused by Ukrainian agricultural products."
He also emphasized that the signatories have asked Brussels to require EU environmental, sanitary, and phytosanitary standards for Ukrainian agricultural products.
Reminder
Recently, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that Ukraine's accession to the European Union depends on the Hungarians, and that Kyiv will not join the bloc against Budapest's will. The politician also believes that Ukraine will never join NATO.
