"Kharkivoblenergo" has completed restoration work in the village of Kamyanka, part of the Izium city territorial community.
This was reported by the press service of Kharkivoblenergo, as conveyed by "Dumka".
According to the regional energy company, specialists have finished restoration efforts in the village of Kamyanka, located in the Izium city territorial community.
The energy workers required nearly six months to essentially rebuild the electrical networks and restore power to one of the most devastated settlements in Kharkiv Oblast.
Before the full-scale invasion, over 600 families lived in Kamyanka. Currently, around 70 have returned. However, not everyone can reside here permanently, as the village was destroyed from the ground up during the occupation. While retreating, the Russians bombarded Kamyanka with cluster munitions, resulting in almost every yard being mined.
"The scale of destruction was so immense that initially there were doubts about the feasibility of restoring electricity in this area. A significant challenge was the mine contamination of the territory. Almost all of Kamyanka was littered with 'petals', and there were frequent cases of people being blown up," said Vitaliy Borshch, the head of the Izium Distribution Electric Network.
According to him, after the decision was made to restore electricity, the energy workers had to wait for the demining specialists to complete their work, and then strictly follow their recommendations.
"We operated strictly within the limits set by the explosives experts. In the summer, we had to work in record heat, which was difficult to escape. However, our specialists succeeded. More than 20 km of high-voltage power lines were restored, over 100 poles were installed, and more than 10 new transformer substations were assembled," Borshch noted.
The energy specialist emphasized that the restoration efforts in Kamyanka involved experts from nearly all districts of the electrical networks of JSC "Kharkivoblenergo".
"Everyone helped. Specialists came to our base and lived here. Therefore, together we overcame all obstacles and accomplished the challenging task of restoring power to this settlement," Borshch concluded.
