Epiphany 2025: When to Bless the Water
This is quite straightforward. Priests conduct a major blessing of the water on January 5 and 6 each year. That is, on the Eve of the Epiphany and the Epiphany itself, respectively. In fact, there is no real difference between these days, as the ritual is the same, and the traditions of the holidays are almost indistinguishable.
The very term "great blessing of the water" is linked to a solemn ceremony that references the event which serves as the archetype of the sacrament of washing away sins with water. The water blessing occurs twice: the first time on the Eve of the Epiphany – January 5, and the second time on the holiday itself – the Epiphany.

It can not only protect a person from illness and evil forces but can also almost immediately heal ailments and absolve all sins.
Of course, to bless the water in the church, one must first check the schedule for the water blessing ceremony and arrive at the church early, as there will be many people.
We all understand that the relationship with water during the Epiphany is special, as it is not just holy water, but baptismal water. After performing the rituals in the church, it should be taken home immediately. There, it is customary to sprinkle the corners of the house or simply leave it in a designated spot. It is believed that the water blessed on the Epiphany will protect the entire family and home throughout the year, until the next holiday.
