Frost and unusual warmth. Which regions will face challenging weather conditions on January 1st?

The first day of the year will not bring joy to Ukrainians with snowy and frosty weather, as an unusual warmth will envelop Ukraine in early January. However, this warmth will not last long, as meteorologists predict a drop in temperatures starting January 3.

This was reported to "Telegraph" by the well-known meteorologist Igor Kibalchich in the article "Relentless frosts down to -18 °C. Which regions will be unfortunate with the weather in early January".

According to him, daytime temperatures from January 1 to 3 will reach +4…+9°C, and in the southern regions and Crimea, it will be +10…+13°C. At night, the thermometer will fluctuate between -1…+5 °C, with southern areas seeing +2…+7 °C.

According to Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center data, on January 1, there will be no precipitation across the country, with moderate cloudiness and warmth expected. However, at night, temperatures will drop to -2°C in the west and -1°C in the east of the country.

During the day on January 1, the sun will warm the west to +10°C, the north and east to +8°C, the center to +9°C, and the south to +11°C. Wind gusts will reach 7-12 m/s.

"In the first decade of January 2025, the weather will be variable, occasionally with gusty winds and abnormally high temperatures. A stable snow cover should not be expected, and in those areas where snow does fall, it will not last long," explains Kibalchich.
