The state of martial law and general mobilization has been extended until February 7, 2025. However, certain categories of Ukrainians are eligible for deferment from conscription, although under specific conditions, a citizen may lose this right.
"Telegraph" explains who will not receive a deferment in January 2025. The grounds for which a conscript may receive a deferment are outlined in the Law of Ukraine "On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization" (Article 23).
The following categories of citizens will not be able to obtain a deferment:
A man who was previously deemed unfit for military service by a military medical commission (VVK) but is recognized as fit after a re-examination may also be mobilized. The right to deferment can be revoked if the conscript submitted false documents or provided inaccurate information. The deferment decision may also be annulled if the individual has stopped caring for a relative with a disability or if their health condition has changed, affecting their right to deferment.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported on who is exempt from mobilization as of January 1.
