He volunteered to go to the front on February 25, 2022. During one of the combat missions, Igor sustained injuries to his leg and arm, along with two concussions. A medic saved him by applying tourniquets, which he had to endure for 10 hours, even though such a duration should typically not exceed two hours.

Despite his severe injuries, Igor is not receiving any compensation from the military, and his unit has classified him as someone who has deserted. His family has been using their own funds for his treatment and rehabilitation, including his stay at a rehabilitation center.

Since December 2022, Igor has been unfit for military service and has a lifelong disability. However, he has not been discharged from the army. His family has filed a lawsuit to obtain the appropriate compensation and to overturn the decision regarding his alleged desertion. The court has ordered the military unit to pay Igor his salary and cancel the order, but as of now, there has been no action from the command.
