Upon their return from captivity, military personnel may be granted additional leave at their request – 90 days with retained pay. It is important to note that this leave can only be canceled with the consent of the service member. However, if the soldier decides to resign, they will not be granted leave.

Discharge from Military Service

Military personnel released from captivity have the right to resign from service if they do not wish to continue their duties. To do this, they need to submit a report to their command along with documents confirming their time in captivity.

During mobilization, such military personnel can only be called up again with their consent.

Monetary Payments

Soldiers discharged after release may receive several payments:

  • Military pay
  • Compensation for unused leave
  • Financial assistance and health recovery support
  • One-time discharge assistance

One-Time Payment

Military personnel released from captivity are also entitled to a one-time payment of 100,000 UAH. Additionally, they will receive assistance for each full year of service – 50% of the monthly military pay for each year.
