If Ukrainians lack sufficient work experience for retirement, they can purchase additional months or even years. In 2025, to credit one full month of experience, a payment of 1760 hryvnias is required. However, "buying" a year of experience may not be affordable for everyone, as it will cost 21,480 hryvnias.
This opportunity is available to all citizens of our country who are at least 16 years old. This was reported by leading research fellow at the Ptukh Institute of Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Lydia Tkachenko, during a broadcast on "Kyiv24".
According to data from the government portal, those living abroad and planning to receive a pension in Ukraine can purchase work experience. At the same time, this option is also available to citizens with low official income who wish to increase their future benefits.
Thus, both insured and uninsured individuals over 16 years old can purchase insurance experience if they belong to one of the following categories:
According to Lydia Tkachenko, in 2025, to credit one full month of experience, an individual must pay a minimum insurance contribution of 1760 hryvnias. Thus, one year of experience will cost 21,480 hryvnias.
Recall that starting January 1, 2025, the conditions for retiring at 60 and 63 years in Ukraine will change due to an increase in the insurance experience required for these payments. The duration of insurance experience will increase each year until 2028.
Therefore, to retire at the age of 60 in 2028, one will need at least 35 years of experience. Moreover, starting January 1, 2028, if an individual has 40 or more calendar years of insurance experience, the age pension will be granted regardless of age.
Previously, "Telegraf" reported on how Ukrainians can calculate their future pension independently using the online calculator available on the Pension Fund's electronic services web portal.
