Ukraine is preparing to strike Moscow with its new missiles, according to media reports that reveal more details.

The low cost of the rocket enables a significant increase in its production.

The new Ukrainian cruise missile "Trembita" could become the most significant symbol of Kyiv's desire for autonomous firepower. Ukraine is preparing to use them, including for strikes on Moscow.

This is reported by The Telegraph. According to the publication, "Trembita" combines a loud impulse jet engine with a simple design – a tubular fuselage and a square wing. This simplicity gives "Trembita" its best feature – low cost.

It is also reported that the basic version of "Trembita," developed since 2023, costs about $10,000 per unit. The missile is approximately 2 meters long and weighs about 90 kg. It is launched from a ramp and can carry 18 kg of explosives over a distance of up to 144 km.

The Ukrainian company producing "Trembita" is working on a version that should be capable of reaching Moscow, which is located 650 km from the Ukrainian border. This version, expected to be ready in about a year, will undoubtedly cost more than $10,000 but will still potentially be the cheapest deep-strike munition in the world. In comparison, the ATACMS missile has a maximum range of 300 km but costs over $1 million.

According to journalists, there is no reason why Ukraine cannot purchase thousands of "Trembitas" even without external budget assistance. The same cannot be said for the more expensive domestic deep-strike munitions that Kyiv is working on: the "Grom-2" ballistic missiles and the "Neptune" cruise missiles.

"A barrage of 'Trembitas' could work well against a sprawling factory complex. It may not perform as effectively against underground command bunkers, which the Ukrainians are targeting with their Storm Shadow missiles. Relying more on their own weapons, Ukrainians may have to consider a different set of targets. But at least they will be able to continue striking targets,” the material states.

Specifications of the "Trembita" missile:

  • loaded weight: 100 kg;
  • warhead weight: 20 kg;
  • range: over 140 km;
  • speed: over 400 km/h;
  • maximum flight altitude: 2000 m;
  • minimum flight altitude: 30 m.

The missile can be launched from a pneumatic catapult, as well as with the help of a solid-fuel booster.

Previously, "The Telegraph" reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a video about the new Ukrainian long-range drone missile "Palianytsia." This weapon has already successfully hit targets on enemy territory.
