Ukraine recently received dozens of Storm Shadow missiles from the United Kingdom. This marked the first delivery of weaponry following Keir Starmer's appointment as Prime Minister.
This information was reported by Bloomberg citing informed sources. The publication notes that the shipments occurred several weeks ago and were not publicly disclosed.
It is also indicated that this assistance was provided before the U.S. approved strikes on Russian territory using its ATACMS ballistic missiles. Following that, both London and Paris granted permission for their Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles.
The exact number of missiles transferred in this manner has not been disclosed; however, the report mentions that it involves several dozen. The publication also states that the previous stocks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been completely depleted.
It is worth noting that London has never revealed the number of missiles of this type sent to Ukraine.
As is known, Storm Shadow missiles can hit targets at a distance of 560 kilometers, although their export variants have a range of only 290 kilometers. After launch, the missile can fly at an altitude of 30-40 meters at speeds of up to 1,000 kilometers per hour. The first of these were used in Ukraine in May 2023, but until recently, their use was limited to targets within Ukraine's internationally recognized borders.
Ukraine struck an object in the Kursk region with a Storm Shadow missile on November 20, after receiving permission to use long-range Western weapons on Russian territory. Following this, Western media reported that one of the North Korean generals was injured as a result.
