In Kharkiv, a man was caught setting fire to a Ukrposhta branch for money.

A perpetrator who set fire to a Ukrposhta facility has been apprehended in Kharkiv.

This information comes from the communications department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, as reported by "Dumka".

According to the police, the 18-year-old suspect was promised around $2,000 by an accomplice. During the night, the perpetrator set fire to the entrance of the establishment, but did not manage to collect the money as he was arrested on the same day.

It is known that the young man met an unknown person in one of the messaging apps, who offered him a "side job." That night, the suspect arrived at "Ukrposhta" with a bottle of flammable mixture and ignited the entrance to the building. He sent a video of the fire to his "employer".

A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Intentional destruction or damage to property). He faces up to 10 years in prison.

The young man has been notified of suspicion regarding the crime. The court has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
