Police in Kharkiv reported a young man is suspected of murdering his stepfather.

According to "Dumka," this was announced by the communications department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.

Law enforcement officials stated that the incident occurred in the village of Muravlinka in the Berestivskyi district around 1 a.m. on January 5.

It was revealed that a quarrel erupted between the deceased and the 17-year-old stepson due to strained relations, during which the suspect strangled his stepfather with his feet.

The authorities detained the young man at the scene in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Police investigators informed him of the suspicion of intentional murder.

The court imposed a preventive measure of house arrest for the offender for a period of 60 days.
