In the history of Kharkiv region, 2024 has been the warmest and driest year in nearly 80 years.

The average temperature has significantly exceeded the norm, while the amount of precipitation has dropped to critically low levels.

In 2024, the Kharkiv region recorded the highest average temperature with minimal precipitation since observations began in 1945.

This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to meteorologists, the year 2024 will be remembered in Kharkiv region's history as the warmest and driest since the start of meteorological observations in 1945. The average annual air temperature reached 11.2 °C, which is 3 °C above the long-term norms from 1991 to 2020.

The coldest month was January, with temperatures dropping to -22.7°C, while the hottest was July, with maximums reaching +37.9°C.

Throughout the year, only 339 mm of precipitation was recorded, amounting to 61% of the climatic norm. The most rainfall was noted in the Berestynskyi district (390 mm, or 67% of the norm), while the least was in the Lozova district (285 mm, or 53%).

Experts emphasize that the warm season was extremely dry, posing significant challenges for agriculture and the region's ecosystem.
