Former judge, Yanukovych's advisor, Shevchenko's brother-in-law, and others: who illegally crossed the border in Transcarpathia in 2022.

The primary suspect is Yan Miksha, the deputy head of preventive activities at the Beregovsky District Police Department.
Экс-судья, советник Януковича, супруг сестры Шевченко и другие: кто в 2022 году нелегально пересек границу в Закарпатье.

The Transcarpathian police officer Yan Miksha and border guard Roman Makukh allegedly organized an illegal scheme for crossing the border, for which they charged at least 20,000 US dollars per person. According to the investigation, at least 20 men benefited from this scheme, including a trendy Kyiv designer, a former minister, an advisor to ex-president Yanukovych, a former judge, and even the husband of Andrey Shevchenko's sister.

This was reported by writes "Slidstvo.Info". It is noted that all the men crossed the border through checkpoints in the Transcarpathian region, as evidenced by footage from surveillance cameras obtained by journalists.

The main suspect is the deputy head of the preventive activities of the Beregovo district police department, Yan Miksha. He was taken into custody but released on bail of 2.2 million UAH a week later. According to the prosecution, Miksha personally oversaw the operation of the scheme, collected money, and distributed it. The total amount obtained by the scheme's participants was 400,000 US dollars – 20,000 from 20 individuals, among whom were very recognizable figures in Ukraine.

The suspect's defense denies all allegations, claiming there is no evidence – while Miksha stated to journalists that he was completely uninvolved in the transportation of men across the state border of Ukraine. The press service of the Transcarpathian police declined to comment on the case, and the only information that was obtained is that Miksha has been temporarily suspended from his duties.

According to journalists, among others who used the border crossing services were:

  • Kyiv designer Haik Avanesyan. On March 6, 2022, he crossed the border with his wife, mother, and sister. The crossing occurred at the "Luzhanka" checkpoint in the Transcarpathian region: three people left Ukraine, while four entered Hungary. Ukrainian border guards "did not see" Avanesyan.
  • Former Minister of Finance in the government of Anatoly Kinakh and former advisor to Yanukovych, chairman of the board of "Sberbank Russia" in Ukraine Igor Yushko left alone on March 6, 2022, taking his son and bodyguard with him. While 61-year-old Yushko had the right to leave Ukraine due to his age, his 33-year-old son Stanislav and 48-year-old bodyguard Dmitry did not. In this case, the participation of Roman Makukh was first "highlighted" — he ordered not to inspect Yushko's vehicle. By the way, Makukh and his defense declined to comment.
  • The husband of Elena Shevchenko, sister of Andrey Shevchenko – 50-year-old Andrey Vasyurenko. On March 20, he crossed the border "invisible" with Elena and her mother. At the Hungarian checkpoint, he was instantly "spotted."
  • Former chairman of the Constitutional Court Alexander Tupitsky, who fled to Vienna. A criminal case was opened against Tupitsky in Ukraine – the ex-judge is suspected of bribing a witness and providing knowingly false testimony. In March 2022, Alexander Tupitsky, Ivan Bondarenko, and Dmitry Omelchuk crossed the border, but Ukrainian border guards only recorded the driver of the vehicle.

Tupitsky himself, in response to the publication's request for a comment, said that the suspicion of illegal border crossing was allegedly "handed to him illegally" and that he committed no crime.

"All I can explain is that this is absolute fabrication; it is completely nonsensical. These cases are pulled from the same garbage bin, where they are initially falsified. Crossing the border is an administrative responsibility. As for me moving two people — that is all made up; I had no need to. My wife and I crossed the border simultaneously; what difference does it make, by car or not… I am in Vienna; everyone knows my address.", he told the publication.

Earlier, "Telegraph" reported on how many men died trying to swim across the Tisza River. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine provided data since the beginning of the full-scale war.
