The Democratic Party's presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris addressed her supporters following the election defeat. She urged them not to lose hope and to continue working for the good of the country.
This was reported by CNN. Harris stated that she has already spoken with President-elect Donald Trump and congratulated him on his victory.
"If we lose, we accept this outcome. That is the principle of democracy. It is the main distinction between democracy and monarchy or tyranny. As a nation, we are devoted not to a president or a party, but to the Constitution of our country," she said.
Harris added that during her conversation with Trump, she promised to do everything in her power to ensure a peaceful transition of power.
"To the young people watching me, I want to say that it's okay to feel sad and disappointed. During the campaign, I often said if we fight, we win. But there is one thing. Sometimes it takes time. That doesn’t mean we won’t win. The most important thing is to never, ever give up and to keep making the world a better place! You have the power," she added.
Let us remind you that earlier "Telegraph" reported that Harris's team is preparing for numerous lawsuits against Trump. "We are facing a month of legal hell", one of her advisors stated directly.
