In Ukraine, there may be a significant increase in the electricity tariffs for the population. This is one of the requirements for European integration that must be fulfilled.

Member of Parliament Bohdan Kytak stated this to journalists. He emphasized that Ukrainians will have to "adapt" to new realities.

As is known, from June 1, 2024, electricity tariffs for household consumers in Ukraine changed. The corresponding decision was made on May 31. Currently, Ukrainians pay 4.32 hryvnias per 1 kWh. This tariff is set to remain in effect until April 30, 2025.

However, according to MP Bohdan Kytak, the electricity tariff in Ukraine may rise to 6.5 UAH/kWh. The reason for this will be the requirements for European integration.

"This will be a long-term process of gradual increase. But this can only occur in practice if we are continuously supported economically or if the process of Russian reparations begins," said the MP.

He noted that Ukrainians will have to adapt, as the cost of electricity in Ukraine is significantly lower than in the EU, even considering the differentiation of salaries and pensions.

What tariff applies for owners of two-phase meters

For owners of dual-zone meters, the tariff is divided into two parts, namely:

  • day tariff – from 7:00 to 23:00 – is 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour;
  • night from 23:00 to 7:00 – is 2.16 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour.

What tariff applies for owners of electric heating boilers

From October 1 to April 30 of the following year, a reduced tariff for electricity will be in effect for household consumers living in residential buildings equipped with electric heating boilers in accordance with established procedures, reports Yasno.

For these consumers, the tariff will be 2.64 UAH/kWh (including VAT), provided that electricity consumption does not exceed 2000 kWh per month (including total consumption). If more than 2000 kWh is used in a month, the tariff of 4.32 UAH/kWh (including VAT) will automatically apply to the entire monthly consumption.

Previously, the monthly limit for consumers whose homes were equipped with electric installations and dual-zone meters (set by the NEURC) was 3000 kWh per month – this volume was sufficient for heating a house of up to 100 square meters with electricity.

Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that after the current heating season ends, the cost of utilities may rise in Ukraine. This is stipulated in the memorandum with the IMF.
