"There's no tragedy": Zelensky comments on the minerals agreement with the U.S.

The agreement should address several objectives, specifically ensuring security guarantees for Ukraine and a fair distribution of revenues from upcoming projects.
"Нет трагедии": Зеленский прокомментировал соглашение с США о полезных ископаемых.

The signing of the minerals agreement between Ukraine and the USA may take place in the near future. However, Ukraine must safeguard its interests, so it is not surprising that the document will be thoroughly prepared, verified, and discussed.

This was stated by the advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, during a broadcast on the FREEДОМ channel. He noted that the document is currently being coordinated between the parties.

Podolyak added that U.S. President Donald Trump, of course, acts in the interests of the U.S., but Ukraine and its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, are primarily focused on Ukrainian interests. The agreement must address several issues, particularly security guarantees for Ukraine and the fair distribution of revenues from future projects.

"President Zelensky is approaching the preparation of such a document in a working format. This means it should be developed by the relevant ministries, calculating the tactical and technical parameters. The Ministry of Defense and the Office of the President of Ukraine need to assess and refine it in terms of security guarantees, which will also be outlined in this document. I don't see any tragedy in the fact that the agreement is being discussed; it is being thoroughly examined at various levels, and working groups have been formed, etc.", Podolyak concluded.

We remind you that President Zelensky was offered an "enhanced" version of the agreement with the USA regarding rare earth metals. The new version of the agreement contains significant changes and complies with Ukrainian legislation. The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, stated that work on signing the document will begin on Monday, February 24. Zelensky hopes to meet with Trump next week. It is expected that he will discuss the minerals agreement there.

Meanwhile, Trump stated that Washington wants to get from Ukraine "everything we can," meaning that the discussion is no longer limited to just minerals or oil and gas. At the same time, he again lied about supposedly providing $350 billion in aid to Ukraine, although he previously claimed that there wouldn't even be 100 billion.
