The Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant has been destroyed by Russians in 2023, resembling a scene from a horror movie. The station itself is in ruins and currently cannot be restored due to the ongoing occupation that has persisted since the first day of the full-scale war.

The publication Slidstvo.Info revealed what is happening in the Kherson region. The 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporizhzhia, with the call sign "Tor," showcased the remnants of the dam and part of the Kherson region through a drone broadcast.

"Here is the Kakhovka dam, its remnants. This is what was blown up in 2023," the defender shows.

Slidstvo.Info reports that the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporizhzhia has been defending the Kherson region from Russian occupiers for several months. In Beryslav, located on the banks of the Dnipro in the Kherson region, Russians strike local residents and civilian homes daily.

On the other hand, the released footage indicates that the temporarily occupied Nova Kakhovka appears to be more intact compared to other cities that Russia is erasing from existence. There are no large-scale destructions there.

"This is Nova Kakhovka (…) A beautiful city, civilian life is present, of course, just like in any occupied village," the fighter comments.

When asked by a journalist if the fighters had noticed what the Russians were doing there, he replied that they were almost absent since the city is frontline.

Destruction of the Kakhovka HPP – what is known

Recall that on June 6, 2023, Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovka HPP. This led to the flooding of several settlements in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

As reported by "Ukrhydroenergo" at that time, the station is completely destroyed and cannot be restored. Moreover, during the flooding following the explosion by the occupiers of the Kakhovka HPP in the territory occupied by Russia, at least hundreds of people lost their lives.

The UN stated that the explosion of the Kakhovka dam in June 2023 constitutes an environmental disaster of significant scale that extends beyond Ukraine.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported on the damage caused by Russians to Ukrainian ecology.
