"We have a moral compass": A Norwegian company refused to refuel U.S. military ships.

Haltbakk Bunkers is the largest company in Norway offering refueling services for ships and vessels, including military ones.
"Мы придерживаемся моральных принципов": в Норвегии компания отказалась заправлять американские военные корабли.

The Norwegian company Haltbakk Bunkers, one of the largest suppliers of marine fuel in Norway, has announced that it will cease refueling U.S. military vessels. This decision comes in response to a scandal in the White House involving President Donald Trump and Vice President Di Vance, who had a dispute with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This was reported by the Norwegian publication Kystens Næringsliv, citing a statement from Haltbakk Bunkers owner Gunnar Gran. He assured that "not a single liter of fuel will be supplied until Trump is no longer president."

Interestingly, a related post was made in English on Haltbakk Bunkers' official Facebook account (which has since been removed). The statement announced a complete boycott of refueling U.S. Navy warships.

"Today we witnessed the biggest shit-show ever presented 'live' by the current American president and his vice president. A huge credit goes to the president of Ukraine for restraining himself and maintaining composure despite the cunning television show set up by the U.S. It made us nauseous. Short and clear," the message stated.

Haltbakk Bunkers declared that they will stop selling fuel to the American military and their ships, and encouraged other European companies to join this initiative. Gunnar Gran himself explained to the media that he runs a private company that chooses whom to sell fuel to and whom not to. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the company halted fuel sales to Russian ships and vessels, and now the United States is included in that list.

"This meant that many of our competitors gained a significant additional income. We lost a lot of revenue. But we have a moral compass. Currently, the U.S. is excluded due to their behavior towards Ukrainians... We have many employees from Ukraine, and we know how terribly this war affects Ukrainians and their families," Gran added.

Haltbakk Bunkers is a subsidiary of Gunnar Gran's Haltbakk Group. It is the largest company in Norway providing ship and vessel refueling services. The company operates 10 bunkering ships, two tankers, and numerous refueling stations on land and in ports. According to Gran, in 2024, U.S. military ships received 3 million liters of fuel from the company.

It is worth noting that on Friday, February 28, a meeting took place in Washington between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his American counterpart Donald Trump. The leaders discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, particularly the signing of a minerals agreement. However, a scandal arose during the meeting: Zelensky argued with Trump and his administration representative Jay D. Vance. The altercation began after Zelensky's comments on security guarantees. Western media suggest that the scandal was deliberately provoked by U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance.

Following this, the negotiations were abruptly terminated, and Trump made another round of statements, blaming Volodymyr Zelensky for the incident and claiming that the Ukrainian president does not appear to be someone who wants to end the war.

Democratic Party senators unleashed a wave of harsh criticism against U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President Jay D. Vance over the scandal involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The main message from the Democrats is that Trump and Vance shamefully treated Ukraine and are siding with Vladimir Putin, which is unacceptable.
