Ukraine is actively utilizing aerial, ground, and naval drones for defense against Russia. The Ministry of Defense reported that over 1.2 million various drones have already been transferred to the Defense Forces in 2024. Among them are 6,000 deep-strike attack drones.
The Ministry of Defense mentioned several examples — the An-196 "Lyutyi" and Firepoint. However, Ukraine is developing and using many more variants. It is also noted that around 30,000 "night" and long-range drones have already been contracted for the first quarter of 2024, indicating a need for drones capable of flying hundreds of kilometers and striking targets in Crimea and Russia. "Telegraf" has compiled information about the most commonly used long-range drones by Ukraine. It is worth mentioning that there is no information available in open sources regarding the aforementioned Firepoint. The Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov, stated in an interview that Ukraine has drones with a range of 1,800 km, although he did not specify the model. There are several candidates.
The first deployment occurred in May 2023 against a Russian oil depot in the village of Volna on the Taman Peninsula. This drone can carry a warhead weighing 50-75 kg and can fly 800 km or more. Some sources report a striking range of 1,500 km.
The first use occurred in May 2023, likely "Bober" struck the Ilysk oil refinery in the Krasnodar region. Detailed specifications are not disclosed, but the warhead can weigh up to 20 kg. The drone features an aerodynamic "duck" shape. Its range is estimated to be between 800–1,400 km.
In October 2023, funds were collected for "Morok" by the SBU and volunteers. Key specifications were announced – flight range of 800 km and a warhead weight of 30 kg.
This drone has a maximum operational range of 800 km. The warhead consists of 82-mm mines weighing up to 20 kg. The cruising speed is 120 km/h, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h. It is believed that these drones attacked the "Shahed" kamikaze drone assembly plant in Tatarstan in April 2024.
This is a promising development capable of flying 1,300-3,300 km depending on the type of engine, with a maximum speed of 580 km/h. It was introduced four years ago, but there have been no announcements regarding its mass production. Armament includes guided missiles of types RK-2P, R2-M, and RK-10 with a range of up to 10 km.
"Telegraf" reported that Ukraine has launched series production of rocket-drones "Ad". There are also similar long-range developments "Palyanytsia" and "Ruta".
