The Pentagon has confirmed that Ukraine will receive substantial military aid. What is the total amount being discussed?

The Pentagon has confirmed that Ukraine will receive military assistance amounting to the full remaining balance from the current administration of President Joe Biden before President of the United States Donald Trump takes office. This amount will be approximately six billion dollars across two initiatives.

This information was shared by Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh during a briefing on November 7, as reported by "Voice of America". The aid includes four billion dollars from the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which allows for the direct transfer of weapons from U.S. Army stocks, and two billion dollars allocated for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) – under this program, weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces are ordered directly from manufacturers.

According to Singh, some weapons under the PDA program arrive in Ukraine within days or weeks. The delivery of others may take longer, depending on availability in U.S. warehouses.

"We are always looking at what Ukraine needs on the battlefield, what can be utilized by Ukrainian forces, and what will have the greatest impact. I do not have a set of new resources or new items we are considering today, but whenever we announce an aid package or a new commitment, it is an investment in the success of Ukrainians fighting on the battlefield,” she added.

As a reminder, as reported by "Telegraph", officials from President Biden's administration plan to expedite the transfer of the last six billion dollars in aid to Ukraine. There are concerns that the elected President Donald Trump may halt funding to support Kyiv in favor of the so-called "president" of Russia.
