In Pyatigorsk (Russia), an explosion of household gas occurred in a multi-apartment building of a modern residential complex, resulting in a significant fire. The incident took place on the morning of Saturday, November 9.
This was reported by the Governor of Stavropol, Vladimir Vladimirov. The announcement was made on his Telegram channel. Additionally, various Russian media outlets picked up the news.
"Preliminarily, the cause was identified as a gas-air mixture explosion. Emergency services, including firefighters, are currently on-site," the governor stated, which translates from Russian jargon to mean that there was an explosion of household gas in the building.
According to initial information, the explosion claimed the life of a woman. Furthermore, another woman was injured and is receiving medical attention; she is in critical condition.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Stavropol Territory added that the fire has been localized over an area of 60 square meters. Evacuations of local residents are underway. Twenty personnel are involved in extinguishing the fire, with six units of equipment deployed.
