Russia has focused on three key objectives in the Kharkiv region to strengthen its control over the area.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in their update on the morning of October 29, as conveyed by "Thought."

In its findings, ISW cites Ukrainian military expert Alexander Mashovets, who claims that the command of the Russian forces has identified three main tasks in northern Kharkiv.

  1. Firstly, they aim to capture the northern part of Volchansk and advance towards the settlement of Tikhoye, located east of Volchansk.
  2. The second task is to regain control over the village of Glubokoye, which is situated north of Kharkiv, and to move towards Liptsy.
  3. The third goal of the occupiers is to tie down Ukrainian forces to limit their capabilities in the Kupiansk direction and divert attention from active operations in the Kursk region.

On October 27 and 28, geolocation evidence emerged indicating that Russian forces have made slight advances southeast of Kupiansk, near the village of Kolesnikovka and southwest of Kruglyakovka.
