The verdict has been announced for a Russian spy who was "hunting" for secret documentation in Kharkiv.
This information was reported by the public organization "Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center" (HACC), as conveyed by "Dumka".
According to HACC, the individual in question is Sergey Lovchikov.
Lovchikov is a citizen of the Russian Federation who has been living in Kharkiv for many years and was employed at the time of the crime at a branch of one of the Ukrainian banks.
The man was primarily engaged in gathering information about the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) units and military equipment in Kharkiv: in the area of "Ukrtelecom", the parking lot near the "Metalist" stadium, a former branch of "PrivatBank", and the military institute of tank troops at NTU "KPI".
Subsequently, he transmitted this data via Telegram to a representative of the Russian Federation.
Lovchikov then began collecting information on the locations of documentation storage bases within Kharkiv.
This information was crucial for the enemy to carry out strikes on storage sites with the aim of destroying documents and, consequently, hindering the restoration of critically important infrastructure that had already suffered from shelling by the Russian Federation.
During a search, a homemade explosive device was found in Lovchikov's possession.
The man fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse.
The court found the citizen of the Russian Federation guilty of espionage, disseminating information about the movement, relocation, and positioning of the AFU, as well as for acquiring, carrying, and storing an explosive device (part 3 of Article 114-2, part 2 of Article 28 part 3 of Article 114-2, part 1 of Article 114, part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 10 years in prison with partial confiscation of property.
A Nissan Rogue vehicle, $6600, and 123,200 Russian rubles will be allocated for the needs of the AFU.
