The court in Pervomaisk found a local pensioner guilty of theft during a state of martial law and sentenced him to five years in prison with a one-year probation period.

This was reported by "Dumka" based on the decision of the Pervomaisk city district court in the Kharkiv region.

The incident occurred on March 25 at the stadium of Lyceum No. 6 in the city of Pervomaisk (now Zlatope). Around 8:40 AM, the man noticed a children's backpack left near the sports ground and decided to take it for himself. Inside were wrestling shoes, a thermos mug, and a power bank belonging to a student.

After taking the items, the thief left the scene, but just a few minutes later, he appeared on surveillance cameras in a store, and soon after, he was apprehended by the police. The stolen property was confiscated from him.

In court, the man admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. He was sentenced to five years in prison but was released from serving his sentence, receiving a one-year probation instead. He is also required to pay over 4,000 hryvnias in procedural costs.
