In Kharkiv, a woman was tried for drunkenly suffocating a man with a baby blanket.

A woman in Kharkiv has been sentenced for killing her husband with a baby blanket.

This has been reported by the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the prosecutor's office, on June 27, 2022, around 11:00 PM, a conflict arose between the couple, who were consuming alcohol, at their home on Silikatna Street. During the argument, the woman, standing behind her husband, threw a baby blanket around his neck, tightened it, and held it until he stopped breathing.

It is known that the victim was 38 years old at the time. After committing the crime, the woman called her father, who promised to take the blame.

"When the police arrived in response to the call, the perpetrator's father indeed claimed that he had strangled his son-in-law with a kitchen towel. However, this version was not substantiated. At the court hearing, the woman denied her guilt and insisted that she was pulling the blanket around her husband's neck to calm him down, not intending to kill him," the report states.

The court found the 39-year-old woman guilty of intentional homicide under part 1 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
