In the Kharkiv region, a killer forged disability certificates for over a hundred draft evaders, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

A large-scale scheme to evade mobilization has been uncovered in the Kharkiv region.

In Kharkiv region, law enforcement officials uncovered a corruption scheme where participants assisted draft evaders in obtaining disability status to avoid mobilization; they charged up to $8,000 for their services.

This information was shared with the publication "Dumka" by Vladislav Abdula, a spokesperson for the SBU in the Kharkiv region.

According to Abdula, a large-scale mobilization evasion scheme was exposed in Kharkiv region. The perpetrators, for a monetary reward, helped men of conscription age illegally obtain disability status, allowing them to avoid conscription and travel abroad.

Investigators identified a 54-year-old resident of Kharkiv region, previously convicted for intentional murder, as the organizer of the scheme. He involved more than ten accomplices, including medical professionals, lawyers, and former law enforcement officers.

Clients seeking to evade mobilization paid between $5,000 and $8,000. Medical professionals prepared fake documents, and expert commissions issued disability decisions. According to the SBU's estimates, around 100 individuals have already utilized this scheme.

During a special operation, law enforcement conducted 36 searches at medical institutions, residences of the suspects, and clients. They seized over 500 files, military registration documents, equipment in the act, and nearly half a million dollars.

The organizer and three of his accomplices, including a lawyer, have been detained. They face up to 9 years in prison under articles of the Criminal Code concerning obstruction of the Armed Forces' activities and illegal transportation of individuals across the border.

Currently, investigative and operational actions are ongoing to identify all those involved in the crime.
